Licensure for Registered Nurses in the U.S.
In order to be employed as a Registered Nurse in the United States, you need to be in possession of a full and unrestricted RN license issued by one of the US State Boards of Nursing.
For all Foreign Graduates (excepting Canadians in some instances), this means that you must sit and pass the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RNĀ®). The PHP sponsorship program will guide you through every step of this process and will assist you in preparing for the NCLEX-RN.
Our program includes a home study manual with typical questions, answers and rationale, as well as a series of pre-screening tests administered by PHP that will prepare you for the examination. The materials for this program are provided to you free of charge by PHP.
The NCLEX-RN is administered by a system called "Computer Adaptive Testing" (CAT), using multiple choice questions that have been standardized by NCLEX. The exam is taken at a computer station at one of the many Sylvan Technology Testing Centers throughout the world. However, computer literacy is not a pre-requisite to sit the exam.
For more information on the NCLEX-RN and CAT, visit the National Council of State Boards web site.
On successful passage of the NCLEX-RN, a US Registered Nursing License will be issued to you and we then move on to the next stage of the process: Obtaining a Working Visa.
